Tomato – Mozzarella salad

This is my favorite salad to make at home because it is quick, easy, yet delicious.

It is tomato, mozzarella and basil leaves & a balsamic vinaigrette sauce.
As any other recipe, it depends on your taste! Personally, I use as much vinegar as oil and I use a full tablespoon of mustard because I loooooove mustard. That’s why cooking is great, you can simply add more of what you like and less of what you don’t like much, and try some variations.

For the salad you’ll need:

– Two or three ripe tomatoes
– One block of mozzarella
– As much basil as you like

For the vinaigrette, the basics are:

– 3 tablespoons of oil
– 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
– 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
– Salt & pepper

ALWAYS wash your fruit & vegetables (and aromatic plants) before eating/cooking them!

I usually start with the vinaigrette & you can actually make more than you need and keep it in the fridge for future salads.
For the vinaigrette you just have to mix everything together, no need for a specific order or whatever. I personally prepare the vinaigrette directly in the salad bowl.
Then it is very easy, just chop the tomatoes and remove the stems, chop the mozzarella & basil, and pour them in the salad bowl. Make sure to stir well until the sauce is evenly distributed.

And enjoy!

If you want some variations, you can replace the basil by mint, or the balsamic vinegar by raspberry vinegar for a fancier salad 😉
